Press Release for 5th Annual Noche de Altares - Santa Ana, CA
Orange County’s Largest Day of the Dead Celebration Bigger Than Ever!
Santa Ana, CA. -- Expecting over 5,000 in attendance, the 5th Annual Noche de Altares Celebration will be the largest Day of the Dead Celebration in Orange County. To be celebrated on Saturday, November 3, 2007 from 2:00pm to 10:00pm at Fiesta Marketplace in the City of Santa Ana (3rd and Bush Streets).
Organized by non-profit organization El Centro Cultural de México and local business Calacas Inc., Noche de Altares is a free, family-friendly community event. Throughout the day there will be arts and crafts workshops, face painting, local artists selling their wares, and delicious food from local restaurants and vendors. Live music and entertainment from local and international musicians and dance troupes all day.
Featuring a spectacular and imaginative life-size skeleton art exhibit using paper mache, each skeleton is created from scratch and collectively designed to tell a story.
At the heart of the tradition, community members from Santa Ana and as far as Los Angeles will construct over 30 altars. Participants are encouraged to build their altar in memory of a deceased loved one or to bring awareness to a social issue. Registration to build an altar is free and open to the public. Deadline to reserve a space is Friday, October 26th.

Community members can also support Noche de Altares and honor a deceased loved one by making a donation in their name. All sponsors, tribute donors and honorees are recognized in the event program. Donations made in support of Noche de Altares are tax-deductible.
