In a sad and shameful ending, according to the latest report, Elvira Arellano was deported to Mexico just few hours after her arrest by ICE agents at downtown Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon (8/19), at outside Our Lady Queen of Angels Church, where she had been speaking to reporters [see below article from Spanish Newspaper La Opinion]
This is a shameful move from the government to arrest and deport her, this is a clear signal from the government to terrify people who dare to speak up and fight for the injustice.
We are still encourage everyone to call local ICE office and organize your local peaceful protest/vigil on Monday (8/20) to express your outrage.

Elvira Arellano ya fue deportada a México

Hacia las 10 pm fue entregada por los agentes de la Oficina de Control de
Inmigración y Aduanas (ICE) a funcionarios del Instituto de Nacional de
Migración (INM), revelaron a La Opinión fuentes oficiales que pidieron
mantener su nombre en reserva.
El Cónsul de México en SanDiego, California, Luis fue el encargado de
acompañar a Arellano en sus últimos pasos en Estados Unidos, cumplido el
trámite de la deportación.
Como aspecto curioso, dijo la fuente, Arellano no fue deportada por la
puerta en la frontera por donde Inmigración suele entregar a los deportados,
sino que pasó caminando por el acceso utilizado por turistas que pasan al
otro lado de la frontera conocido con el nombre de la ŒGarita de San
Ysidro¹, en la frontera de California con Tijuana.
Mientras tanto, los miembros del Movimiento Santuario a cuyo cargo estaba
Arellano cuando fue arrestada, confirmaron a La Opinión que los congresistas
Luis Gutiérrez y Bobby Rush iniciarán el cabildeo para las leyes privadas
que presentaron ante el Congreso buscando la legalización de Arellano.
