Justice for Filipino American Veterans ( JFAV ) composed of Filipino World War II veterans and their advocates, ardently participates in the first Rotary Club of Historic Filipino 5 Kilometer Run Walk last August 5. The August 4-5 activities was capped by a 5-kilometer run on Sunday Aug.5 More than 400 runners and walkers participated on the event. City Council Member Wendy Gruel awarded the winners of the 5K Run/Walk chaired by Rotarian Dony Joaquin. More than 20 veterans and youth acted as watchers along the route of the 5K run from Burlington/ Court street to Commonwealth/2nd Streets back to the fiish line.

JFAV PARTICIPATES IN SUCCESSFUL 5K RUN AND FILIPINOTOWN FESTIVAL AUG. 5

Los Angeles—Justice for Filipino American Veterans ( JFAV ) composed of Filipino World War II veterans and their advocates, ardently participates in the first Rotary Club of Historic Filipino 5 Kilometer Run Walk last August 5.

The August 4-5 activities was capped by a 5-kilometer run on Sunday Aug.5 More than 400 runners and walkers participated on the event. City Council Member Wendy Gruel awarded the winners of the 5K Run/Walk chaired by Rotarian Dony Joaquin.

More than 20 veterans and youth acted as watchers along the route of the 5K run from Burlington/ Court street to Commonwealth/2nd Streets back to the fiish line.

Later on the formal program, on August 5, Cheri Gulke, author of the book. Valor, and the artist designer for the World War II memorial for Filipino veterans located in Lake St. Park presented to World Wart II veterans, the book . JFAV Coordinator Commander Peping Baclig received the books in behalf of the JFAV .

5th Historic Filipinotown Festival -- A Success.

More than 1,500 people attended the two day event from August 4 and 5. Hundreds of seniors and cultural dancers from the Silverlake Adult Health Care Center, FASGI and other groups opened the festivities after the interfaith ceremonies.

JFAV, the alliance of veterans organizations and community and youth/student groups participated in the two days activities led by the Historic Filipinotown Council, the GEPENC, Rotary Club of Historic Filipintiown and other groups.



More than 20 youth volunteers gathered petitions during the 2 day festival that will be sent to the White House and the U.S. Congress before they adjourn on October 2007.
