Day of Human Rights Awareness

Local Inland Empire and Riverside County organizations host an event on August 4th featuring a ‘Walk for Human Rights’ at 2pm, a speaker forum at 3:30pm, and an all-ages benefit concert at 6pm featuring Naked Aggression and No Reform.

The Inland Empire Human Rights Coalition presents a ‘Day of Human Rights Awareness’, which will take place in Riverside, CA, Saturday, August 4th 2007. The event will begin at 2pm with a downtown ‘Walk for Human Rights’ starting at City Hall (3900 Main St.), and ending in front of the Riverside Public Library (3581 Mission Inn Ave.). At 3:30pm, in front of the library, there will be a speaker forum with local organizations, featuring keynote speaker Dr. Sharon Graff of UCC Redlands. The event will conclude with a benefit rock concert at 6pm at Back to the Grind coffee shop (3575 University Ave.), and will feature Naked Aggression, No Reform, Another Destructive System, The Wreck, Malice of Forethought, and Vomit Clot. The concert is (no one will be turned away due to lack of funds), and will benefit both the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (www.seashepherd.org) and Aid From the Underground (www.myspace.com/aidfromtheunderground).



The Inland Empire Human Rights Coalition (IEHRC) consists of community members and local organizations (Amnesty International, Riverside Area Peace and Justice Action, Political Awareness Club of RCC, Aid From the Underground, Inland Empire HardCore) concerned with human rights violations occurring in our local communities, our nation, and in the abroad. We are a non-partisan, non-sectarian collaboration working towards two main goals: raising awareness in human rights issues, and increasing the involvement of our communities towards improving the issues.
