http://www.myspace.com/sbfreemarket SB's 3rd Free Market went down on Saturday the 28th. Folks from the community gathered around 11am in Alice Keck Park Gardens unfurling goods, clothing, food and offering skills to share with others. The market ran most of the day.
Free Markets [not the "Free Market" of neoliberals] are based on economic principles of mutual aid in which people share with one another freely.
During SB's Free Market a spontaneous money burning ceremony was had by some. Burning $1 bills was described as one participant as as way to symbolically reject the monetary economy that holds private profits and property above social welfare and community.
A drummer set up for a while offering lessons and music while other musicians roamed the lawn.
What do you do with all the stuff that was left over, that people didn't want? Is there any permitting involved, especially being that more than 70 people are expected to attend?
