People's C.O.R.E. (Community Organization for Reform and Empowerment) Youth Media Arts Project (YMAP) will be holding “Scene on the Screen”, a youth-initiated and produced video documentary screening. This will take place on June 29, 2007 7:30 pm at Lake St. Park, 227 N. Lake St. Los Angeles, CA 90026. YMAP’s program provides technical training in the art of video documentary production. Students have gained the knowledge and skills to produce their own video documentaries covering community issues. It is a training using up-to-date industry standard technology and professional level equipment.

Los Angeles - People's C.O.R.E. (Community Organization for Reform and Empowerment) Youth Media Arts Project (YMAP) will be holding “Scene on the Screen”, a youth-initiated and produced video documentary screening. This will take place on June 29, 2007 7:30 pm at Lake St. Park, 227 N. Lake St. Los Angeles, CA 90026.

YMAP’s program provides technical training in the art of video documentary production. Students have gained the knowledge and skills to produce their own video documentaries covering community issues. It is a training using up-to-date industry standard technology and professional level equipment.

YMAP has trained 50 youth from the central Los Angeles area for the past three years, and has produced 6 films during that time. Schools worked with have been Belmont, Marshall, Eagle Rock High Schools and recently Miguel Contreras Learning Center.

The video screening “Scene on the Screen” will introduce the next batch of youth documentaries, from this past year, to the community. YMAP is a series of trainings that has been conducted for the past two years. This is the third installment of this program, which started last January 2007 and will culminate with the screening on June 29.

YMAP is a part of the Youth Leadership Development program of People’s CORE and is also supported by the California Consumer Protection Foundation of California (CCPF).
