LA-IMC film screening report back

In solidarity with the people of Oaxaca and independent filmmakers from Mexico, Mal de Ojo TV, the Los Angeles Indymedia Center held a screening of the film: Compromiso Cumplido, True to my Pledge, this past Thursday.

The film tells the story of individuals of have lost their lives in the struggle for freedom in the state of Oaxaca. The film shows excerpts from the final video by Indymedia journalist Brad Will that documents his assassination by police in the streets of Oaxaca last November. The screening was part of coordinated screenings worldwide to mark the one year anniversary, June 14th, of the Oaxaca uprising.

The event was well attended and the film was well received. Afterwards a spokesperson for APPO-LA made a brief statement and gave a summary of the current political situation in Oaxaca.

The screening was covered by Telemundo and broadcast later that night on their 11:00 report.
