Teen jazz band In Black takes their Solutions Tour to the Jazz Bakery in Culver City. The band is traveling from N. California to S. California, promoting issues around climate change, solutions, and great jazz.

Youth jazz ensemble In Black is scheduled to play at the Jazz Bakery in Culver City on Sunday, June 24th, from 4pm to 6pm. This matinee performance at the Jazz Bakery is part of the Northern California band’s “Solutions Tour,” which is designed to promote awareness of climate change and how individuals can help reverse its effects.

In Black will be promoting the Natural Resource Defense Council’s Move America Beyond Oil petition, and promoting their own solutions to the issue of climate change. They will also be soliciting ideas from the general public, many of which will be posted at the website of the environmental online magazine Grist, at www.grist.org.

In Black’s Solutions Tour to Southern California will take place June 20th to June 28th. Traveling in a biodiesel van rented from VIP Greenride in San Francisco, their tour stops include the E3 Playhouse in Santa Cruz, the Air Quality Control District’s Solutions Concert in San Luis Obispo, the Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Festival, the Jazz Bakery in Culver City, Disneyland, and the Los Angeles Zoo.

The members of the band range in age from 14-16. In Black has been performing their own unique brand of swing, standards, and straight-ahead jazz for over 4 years, playing a wide variety of events in Northern California. The Solutions Tour is In Black’s first foray into Southern California, and is being sponsored in part by Clif Bar. For more information, visit their website at www.myspace.com/inblackjazz.
