Riviera Village Summer Festival: Redondo Beach Event Celebrates The Season With Family Fun And Entertainment On June 23 & 24 - Free Admission!

Pack up the kids (and bring along the neighbors too!), jump in your car; take a ride to the beach for family fun and entertainment, at this year's 27th Annual RIVIERA VILLAGE SUMMER FESTIVAL. Sponsored by the Riviera Village Association in co-operation with the City of Redondo Beach, the event presents a juried Fine Art & Crafts Expo, a Children's Zone with carnival rides, games and circus wagon treats, an Entertainment Stage, an International Food Court, plus an adult's only Beer & Wine Garden. The annual event is produced by Ray Leier's Altadena-based del Mano Productions LLC.

The festivities take place on Saturday, June 23, and Sunday, June, 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Riviera Village Business District, located at 1705 S. Catalina Avenue (at Catalina Avenue and Avenue I), one block east of the beach in the southwest corner of Redondo Beach. Admission to the event is free; a admission for the Wine & Beer Garden includes one beer or glass of wine. Plenty of parking is available throughout the area.

Touted as the best Fine Art & Crafts Expo in the South Bay, the festival showcases the work of more than 150 of the most talented, interesting and unique artists and craftspeople from throughout western states. Their works encompass an eclectic mélange of styles, from whimsical to contemporary conversation pieces, intermixed with traditional art festival favorites. It’s one-stop browsing 'n buying with all hand-made items – no mass productions are allowed. The juried selections, were everything is available for purchase — from fine art and photography; adult's clothing, hats and handbags; gold, silver and beaded and resin jewelry; steel and polymer clay sculptures, stained glass, kinetic art and fountains; to hand-blown glass, porcelain and ceramics; mixed media paper and textile art; potpourri, scented soaps and lotions; children’s apparel and toys; picnic baskets and kites — offer something for even the most finicky shopper or collector.

This year's Entertainment Stage presents an exciting line-up of Southern California’s most talented local jazz musicians on the scene today, plus a children's dance troop. With entertainment to suit all tastes; the program includes an eclectic mix of family fun.

Saturday, June 23

10:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.: Joel Penner Trio. High flying jazz from horn master Joel Penner and his trio starts the day with the perfect compliment to the surfside ambiance with waves of progressive and traditional sounds. (www.joelpenner.com)

12:45 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.: Dance Forever. A high spirited local dance troupe makes their Riviera Village Summer Festival debut with a high energy repertoire of energetic choreography and high kicking, crowd pleasing moves.

3:45 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.: Jazz Zone. Deep jewel tones of soulful jazz and R&B, this veteran group offers two sets of inspired sounds and freewheeling interpretive improvisation. (www.jazzzone.net)

Sunday, June 24

10:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.: Scott Martin Trio. Jazz, the Latin way, with an eclectic trio of first call players sure to start your heart with a jolt of musical hot sauce.

1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.: Trio Metro. Guitarist Ron Hershewe stamps your ticket for this musical ride on electrified tracks to a destination of stunning instrumental virtuosity.

3:45 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.: Phat Cat Swinger. Put on your dancing shows for a show-closing big band aggregation enlivened by youthful spirit and timeless tunes.

The International Food Court indulges finger-lickin’ festival food connoisseurs with a wide selection of diverse scrumptious treats at modest prices. Cuisine selection from Jamaica, Thailand, Mexico, and more, plus festival favorites: hot dogs, burgers, fries, ice cream, funnel cakes, and snack foods, there will be plenty for all to enjoy. And, for adult over 21, the Wine & Beer Garden offers selections from today's most exciting wineries. A cover charge for the Wine & Beer Garden includes one beer or glass of wine.

The Children's Zone is a cloud nine for any young adventurer. With family fun for kids of all ages, it's a carnival atmosphere with over fifteen rides and games, plus a circus wagon offering kid's favorite festival treats, from snow cones and cotton candy to taffy apples and ice cream cones.
