Echo Park Community Coalition (EPCC) Supports Immigrant Rights Campaign, Will Mobilize for June 24 Full Rights for All Immigrants March and Rally in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles - The Echo Park Community Coalition (EPCC) Council held its annual meeting last May 30 held at the Manila Terrace Social Hall, 2328 W. Temple St, Los Angeles and unanimously passed a resolution that will commit the EPCC to support the current immigrant rights campaign of the Alliance for a Just and Lasting Peace in the Philippines (AJLPP) and the April 7th Coalition,

The EPCC resolution also vehemently opposes the US Border Protection and immigration Reform Bill now under discussion in the U.S Congress. For the EPCC, believed that the new proposals are just a recycled and modified Bracero program.

The EPCC noted that the majority of the communities of central Los Angeles especially of Echo Park are mostly immigrants. The newly crearted district of Historic Filipinotown is located in this area.

The EPCC Council decided to oppose the proposal because it is racist, exploitative and inhuman. It fosters racism instead of unity and anti-immigrant bias. Separates families and fleece profits from exploited immigrants.

The EPCC Council generally agree that the sent that the Senate and the White House immigration proposals will only create a permanent underclass of “guest workers” and scrap the family reunification laws that will separate millions of immigrant families. All nationalities will be affected by this new attack against the families of immigrants and U.S. citizens.
