SANTA MONICA, CA - To highlight the problem of growing corporate power in computers and electronics, RSC Minister of Technology Karl Winterling will discuss the relationship of corporate control gained through software and computers. Computers are an integral part of U.S. society and, especially with the introduction of laws like the USA PATRIOT Act, present a concern to activists in the U.S. and other countries. In addition, corporate control restricts poor students from using certain products.
The RSC will put an emphasis on alternatives to corporate software and give information on campaigns and activist groups.
Slides are attached that outline topics that will be discussed (softwareslides.pdf) in addition to PDF and RTF versions of this article.
No screen presentation will be given.
