maria elena durazo, executive director of the los angeles county federation of labor, is behind and signed to miwon's lapd lies that the mayday police attack was "provoked" by "outside" "agitators". (tho bratton's 1st "cause" was "use of force to remove people who had stepped off the sidewalk onto alvarado st" & then "missiles were thrown", which he revised at 1st city hall press conference when he admitted lapd "assisted march into the street" as far back as vermont st 2 hours earlier, after indisputable aerial news video.)

maria elena durazo's signature was also on the front page of miwon's website below miwon's lies denying lapd mayday attack was unprovoked & therefore under command direction. her husband, miguel contreras, was executive director of the l.a. county fed until he suddenly died in a brothel on florence blvd, may 6, 2005, 11 days before the hahn/villaraigosa mayoral election. contreras had endorsed hahn & campaigned strongly for him through the previous day's cinco de mayo festivities. there was no autopsy as arranged by villaraigosa's protege, martin ludlow, who resigned from city council to replace contreras until he was forced to ["...stepped down from the influential labor organization on February 21, 2006 amid a federal, state and county investigation into collusion between his 2003 City Council campaign and SEIU Local 99... In March 2006, the governing board of the County Fed awarded a $15,000 cash payment to Ludlow "in recognition of his service to the County Fed." Ludlow pled guilty "to one felony count of conspiracy to exceed the $500 campaign contribution limit and two misdemeanor counts of violating campaign laws.
In total, according to a story in The Los Angeles Times on July 30, 2006, Ludlow was sentenced to five years federal probation, three years state probation, 2,000 hours of community service, $186,000 in restitution, and Ludlow is barred from holding public office for four years and barred from holding a union position for thirteen years."
