Surge hostages.

It was bound to happen.

It will happen again in bigger numbers.

The American surge hostages, captured by al-Qaida near Mahmoudiya, south of Baghdad, underscores the growing vulnerability of U.S. surge troops in Iraq.

They increasingly live in and patrol hostile terrain under the new Bush plan intended to wrest control of areas from insurgents.

This is impossible.

It is as impossible as US troops holding the Ho Chi Min trail in Vietnam which Bush and Cheney would know if they ever had the courage to go there.

The surge has multiplied the risks for U.S. troops as the resistance use their knowledge of the land and sophisticated guerrilla tactics to target them outside their heavily fortified bases.

This will not be the last time US troops will be kidnapped and the numbers will go up as the surge goes on.

Pelosi must get our boys out of there now.
