Potential for developers and/or SUV dealerships using arson and "eco-terror" DHS hype to frame eco-activists for profitable insurance fraud..

"Well let's see here. The three SUVs were not resold because SUVs were not involved. A Silverado pickup truck was completely destoyed and two other pickups were damaged to the tune of K or so total. Just saying."
This above comment has gone unanswered long enough (like Jeff's time in prison). For one, the comment neglects to mention that all vehicles that Jeff is accussed of having damaged were indeed repaired & resold, whether they were SUVs or oversized pick-up trucks is irrelevent. In addition, the damage that occurred after Jeff was already in custody was exponentially greater (40 vehicles), and this so-called 'copycat' crime by persons unknown was added to Jeff's sentence even though he was physically incapable of having been there..
The charges of insurance fraud scams by struggling business owners (SUV sales are indeed on steady decline regardless of ELF actions, try rising oil prices) are never investigated by the feds, police, etc.. who are seeking out 'eco-terrorists' as the primary suspects. In the suburban housing development scene, with the mortgage bank predatory lenders and shoddy ticky-tacky construction found in suburban sprawl developments, is it any wonder that some developments are being lit up? Then there's the developers in Natomas who forgot to change their 'not in a floodplain' designation into reality after changing it on paper for city councilmembers! Maybe a nice loud Katrina-esque "OOPS" from the Natomas developers when CA (seismic) flooding event occurrs? Doesn't an overpriced housing development lose value after lack of potential buyers? How convenient for the developers, following their destruction of the environment with sprawl housing, why not have some naive eco-activist willingly take the blame and do their jail time instead??
Not to discount the effectiveness of certain types of vandalism carried out by ecodefenders, we also need to realize that the possible use of "ecotage" vandalism to distract investigations of insurance fraud is also a possibility. That certain activists would even admit to having caused the fire (or other vandalism) to protect their ecoactivist friends from being investigated, harrassed and questioned by DHS authorities is also possible..
Jeff would most likely deny this in his case, whether or not he is claiming responsibility for the event he is accused of. However, with all the other green scare arrests in CA and elsewhere, several incidents indicate a pattern of oppression directed against ANY eco-activists, regardless of their actual intent to engage in said destructive activity..
Specific to housing (usually suburban sprawl) and the predatory lending, people cannot easily become homeowners and foreclose on their mortgage. This causes problems for developers, and many of the planned 700,000 dollar homes on the market are devaluing as the mortgages collapse..
Here's a cute l'il attempt by a Hummer dealer in PA to bilk their insurance company of over 1 million dollars by claiming theft! Guess those Hummers aren't selling like hotcakes off the grill anymore now that people are aware of rising gas prices, pollution, climate change, etc.., so now it's time for plan B, eh?
"Man admits role in auto-theft ring"
Bethlehem Twp. man facing 10 years. Ring also involved vehicle 'give-ups' for insurance money.

"A Bethlehem Township man could face up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty Friday to charges he participated in an auto theft and insurance fraud ring, authorities reported Tuesday.
Artur Lapinski, 27, of the 2800 block of Middletown Road, was indicted by a grand jury Oct. 25. Lapinski pleaded guilty to a second-degree charge of conspiracy to receive and fence stolen property. He could also be fined up to 0,000.
Investigators so far have identified about 3,000 worth of stolen automobiles in the wide-ranging probe that implicated Lapinski, according to the New Jersey Attorney General's Office.
Lapinski admitted Friday that between Nov. 8 and Nov. 10, 2004, he worked with other unnamed persons to obtain and sell two stolen 2005 Hummer H2 motor vehicles for ,000 each.
The two Hummers are owned by the Flemington car dealership James Toyota Hummer Outlet, according to authorities.
Lapinski's indictment is part of a probe into car thefts from dealerships and what is known as automobile "give-ups." In a give-up the owner of a vehicle voluntarily gives his car away and submits a phony theft claim to the insurer. Typically cars are then chopped for parts or retagged with a new vehicle identification number and sold.
"The investigation has identified a conspiracy to steal cars and facilitate owner give-ups on a large scale," New Jersey Insurance Fraud Prosecutor Greta Gooden Brown said. "The property loss and phony insurance claims uncovered in this wide-ranging investigation may exceed million."

Hmmm, phony insurance claims of over 1 million dollars? Sounds similar to the second fire (40 vehicles damaged) at the Romania dealership that occurred several days following the arrest of Jeff Luers. So in this PA case mentioned above, the Hummer dealership could have filed police reports about the so-called vehicle thefts and the local police could shake down every African-american, Latino or lower income Euro-american as a potential car theft suspect. Out west in CA, OR, etc.., the accusation of 'eco-terrorist' vandalism encourages police rounds ups of local ecoactivists, bicycle riders and other environmentalists in the DHS dragnet operation, while the developer laughs his way to the bank with the successfully completed operation of insurance fraud..
Again, we're not trying to devalue the ELF/ALF activities when they are effective, just reminding investigators to also consider insurance fraud and mimicry of "ecoterrorist" vandalism as an equally probable potential..
So what happens when people are exploited by predatory lenders and then they foreclose on their mortgage before the developers can finish their sprawl subdivision? Would arson and insurance fraud pay the developers bills if the homeowners foreclose their mortgage as a result of predatory lending??
"Predatory Lenders make home loans with unfair and abusive terms. These lenders target low income and minority homebuyers, and capitalize on these buyers’ lack of knowledge of complicated transaction or use outright deception to close loans that lead to a loss of equity or foreclosure.
ACORN strives to end these abuses by actively putting pressure on Predatory Lending offenders and advocating for legislation, regulation, education and research to end abusive lending practices.
While payday lenders say that their loans help people in one-time emergencies, ACORN contends that payday loans prey on people in need, and that payday loans just trap people deeper in debt. The result is that people take out more loans. ACORN points to a recent study showing that 90 percent of all payday loans are “predatory” since they are made to customers who take out five or more payday loans per year."
