It's a bait and switch. The electric car was good to go, it was fast,clean ,quiet, and non polluting, also cool looking. GM made a bunch of them , but didn't market them well and eventually recalled them and sent them to be crushed although they were in perfect condition. Then Bush and the local air quality organization come out with this hydrogen fuel cell car and stop talking about the electric car, but then it turns ou that the hydrogen cars will not be any where near ready for 20 years or so. That is because the electric cars would have destroyed the oil companies and despite the fact that they would sell, they would hurt American car companies too because they couldn't make money on repairs and parts. Then Texaco or Chevron bought the battery company that the electric car needs and will not allow it to be used. It is the most sickening thing. We have the technology to stop using oil and the politicians helped big oil stop it.

(Persona is another challenging, "art film" from Ingmar Bergman. the "story" is very spare. an actress who can't speak spends time in the countryside with a nurse who has a lot to say. Bibi Andersson and Liv Ullmann play the two roles.
i think that spending time with Bibi Andersson and Liv Ullmann is always worthwhile. i love Persona's expressionism; this film has a very cool allure to it that's as indescribable as a Scandinavian blonde with a harsh landscape in the background.
however, Persona is kind of dated. a lot of people viewing it today may think that it is "too arty". that's one of the problems with the virtual disappearance of meaningful expressionism in today's fast-paced culture. any time it appears the public is programmed to reject it.
at least Persona wasn't made by the CIA, as it seems with just about every film seen today.)
