Rove to evidence in park

President Bush has said he will block any attempts to get his aides to give evidence under oath to Congress over accusations they fired senior government lawyers who refused to start corrupt political investigations at his request.

The lawyers were sacked after refusing to launch politically-motivated corruption inquiries involving Democrats.

"I will oppose any and all attempts to get at the truth," Bush said on Tuesday.

Bush said he would allow "interviews which would be private and conducted in the park opposite Congress without the need for an oath, transcript, subsequent testimony, or the subsequent issuance of subpoenas."

"If this is not acceptable then we go the Supreme court, which I own and which illegally elected me, " Bush said.
