This Saturday, January 27th, starting promptly at 11:30 a.m., community members are gathering at 6th and Gladys Street on Skid Row, in front of Glady's park, for their first weekly community support canvas and street give-away.

All supporters of the Skid Row Resistance are now being asked to bring pillows, blankets, batteries, self-standing tents with footprints no bigger than 8'x8', phone cards, cash, healthy food, water, clean usable clothing, cameras loaded with film, working tape recorders, toiletries, bio-diesel powered vehicles for donation, wheeled carts, and any other items people can think of for a neighborhood canvas and give-away to the hundreds of sidewalk homeless people here in need of these and many more items to strengthen their on-going resistance.

The Homeless Community of Los Angeles' Skid Row is now under LAPD police attack --in the single biggest criminalization wave of the homeless in Los Angeles' history.

L.A's Loft Developers (and others) are determined to now make you an immediate criminal --merely if you are now downtown and homeless. Thousands of homeless people in downtown L.A., right now, are being attacked daily since August --and in the middle of one of L.A.'s biggest media blackouts.

Since last August, the Los Angeles Coalition to End Hunger and Homelessness now estimates that in daily, multiple, police raids, over 4,000 homeless people on Skid Row have now

--had ID's demanded by cops simply because they were homeless, or sitting; or lying down;
handcuffed;
searched;
had every single bag and suitcase they carry searched;
had half their property, or more, seized and thrown into the gutter;
marched, still handcuffed, to the Skid Row LAPD headquarters;
told that if they were ever caught again on Skid Row, or downtown that they would be
attacked again

...and told if they didn't get into a "shelter" that day, that they would
face an immediate ticket, that they couldn't afford --or jail.

As part of the canvas and giveaway, the Resistance Volunteers will also be distributing a weekly update of upcoming community organizing; petitions; resource guides to the homeless; know-your rights guides, and other materials --participating in a Cop Watch while on the street --and helping to build Skid Row's daily growing street resistance network.

According to the organizers, (501(c)3 tax-deductible receipts available if needed; items will be screened by the Resistance for usability; unsuitable items will not be accepted.

FOLLOWING THE STREET CANVAS --IS ALSO NOW A WEEKLY 90 MINUTE RALLY AND PRESS CONFERENCE STARTING AT 1 P.M. --IN FRONT OF SKID ROW'S LAPD CENTRAL DIVISION HEADQUARTERS --WITH SIGNS, BANNERS, COMMUNITY PETITIONS AND SPEAKERS.

So far, in just three weeks, each week the rally has been growing thanks to the community support!
