In Washington, DC rather than planning a rapid and responsible withdrawal from Iraq they are planning to escalate the war with a surge of new troops. The voters sent a message to Washington, DC on November 7 by voting out pro-war politicians and giving the Democrats control of both Houses of Congress. Since then, voter opposition to the costly US occupation has grown sharper as polls show growing opposition to the war from across the political spectrum 62% among Republicans and 88% of Democrats. Even a majority of Military Times readers oppose the war. And, when it comes to escalation there is almost no support with a CNN poll support for a ‘troop surge’ is at a puny 11%. Please take two immediate steps:

1. Sign the petition. We will deliver this to the president and the congressional leadership before any vote on additional funding for Iraq.

2. Forward this petition to everyone you know.
