Acclaimed California artist, DAN WOOSTER, will show a vibrant collection of fine art at the jFERRARI Gallery from February 10th to March 10th, 2007.

Dan began painting at age eleven on the East Coast and has subsequently continued with his passion in the same studio in California for over 14 years. Numerous solo shows have traced the progress of Wooster’s maturing work. His imagery is confined to the classic subject matter; landscape, still-life, and figure. The process involves a build-up of plaster and paint. Both are scraped away, and then added again, in an often vigorous interchange.

The transformation of a painting from the random to the specific is much like the search for meaning in life. Relating lines, shapes and colors in an instinctual way is the quest to create meaning. Wooster allows himself the freedom to create spontaneously, and balances the ensuing chaos with control and intellect.

In the words of the artist, “The joy comes from creating an image that I didn’t predict.” Many people are walking around asleep- relying on the ego portion of their brain to operate in the world. The ego is a limited library of past experiences. Creating life in the present moment is Wooster’s goal in painting.
