Sderot victim was a Muslim married to a Jew

Sderot victim was a Muslim married to a Jew
By NOAM BEDEIN

At 7:18 a.m. on Wednesday morning, six Kassam rockets slammed into Sderot, killing Fatima Slutsker, 57, and seriously wounding Maor Peretz, 24, a security guard for Defense Minister Amir Peretz.

Slutsker was a Muslim woman who came from the Caucasus Mountains in the Former Soviet Union just three years ago with her Jewish husband.

An eyewitness in a store nearby said she had crossed the road seconds before the rocket landed, and had been waiting for her husband, who was still on the other side of the street.

Avichai Yosef and Benny Libranti from Zaka, the rescue organization that rushes to the scene after terrorist attacks, described the bloody scene as looking like a suicide bombing on a bus.

They said it took hours to gather body parts, which were scattered in a 50-meter, and bones and legs were found on the top of the trees and on car windshields.

Slutsker was laid to rest in the non-Jewish section of the Sderot cemetery on Wednesday afternoon. Of the approximately 150 people that attended her funeral, only 60 of Sderot's 20,000 residents showed up. Most of the others were members of the media.

Residents said that they were afraid to leave their homes to go to the cemetery, which is in the closest part of town to the Gaza Strip.

But a delegation of Moslem Knesset members showed up to pay their respects as Slutsker was laid to rest.

Slutsker was the sixth resident of Sderot killed by rockets from Gaza, out of a total of 23 killed by Kassams over the past two years.

Maor Peretz, a resident of Sderot, was also directly hit by a rocket that landed near Amir Peretz's home and sheared off his legs. Peretz, who is not related to the defense minister, was rushed to Ashkelon's Barzilai Medical Center, where he was listed in "serious but stable condition."

Another barrage of rockets struck Sderot at 6:10 p.m. This time, a 17-year-old man sustained serious wounds as he and his friends were sitting on a park bench.

Israel vows to expand offensive after Gaza attack

http://www.thenews.com.pk/print1.asp?id=32053

Fatima Slutsker, a 57-year-old mother of two, died of wounds sustained when a rocket fell around 8:00 am

In a statement, the defence minister vowed that the Jewish state would strike against those behind the rocket fire. “These organisations will pay a heavy price,” he said. “We will move against those who are involved in the firing of rockets, starting from their leaders and down to the last of their terrorists.”

Thirty-two countries, mainly from Asia, Africa and the Middle East, voted for the resolution introduced by Arab and Islamic nations at the 47 member Council. It also called for a halt to Israel’s military offensive in the Gaza Strip and condemned Israeli human rights violations.

More than 300 Palestinians and three Israeli soldiers have died in Gaza since Israel launched its offensive there on June 28.

The woman killed was named as Fatima Slutsker, a resident of the town and the wounded man, who reportedly lost both his legs, is believed to have been one of Peretz’s bodyguards.

Both were taken to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon for treatment, where the woman died of her wounds.

Israeli warplanes strike Gaza following rocket fatality

By Joshua Mitnick
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

Israeli warplanes raided the Gaza Strip overnight, hours after the Palestinian rocket attack.

Fatima Slutsker, a 57-year-old mother of two, died of wounds sustained when the rocket struck early yesterday in a street in the town of Sderot, three miles north of Gaza, police and medics said.

The death of the Sderot woman was the _first fatality_ caused by one of the crude Qassam rockets in more than a year

http://www.dispatch.co.za/2006/11/16/Foreign/abomb.html

Fatima Slutsker, a 57-year-old mother of two, died of wounds sustained when a rocket fell at around 8am in a street in the town of Sderot, 5km north of Gaza.

Yesterday’s death marked the _first time_ since July 2005 that Palestinian rocket fire killed someone inside the Jewish state, and came a week after an Israeli artillery strike killed 19 Palestinians, mostly women and children, in Gaza’s northern town of Beit Hanun.

More than 300 Palestinians have died. — Sapa-AFP

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

every news source reports "died of wounds sustained" (one says died later in the hospital), and "the first fatality" with that man with "both legs sheared off" which is the same as the story yesterday - ALSO the "first fatality" from "shrapnel wounds" ALSO with the man with "both legs sheared off"

NO NEWS SOURCE SAYS THIS IS THE SECOND FATALITY (which starting with the first reported yesterday, would be)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

but the jpost.com says:

"They said it took hours to gather body parts, which were scattered in a 50-meter, and bones and legs were found on the top of the trees and on car windshields"

while all the other news sources say "died of wounds sustained", "the first fatality" and the man with "both legs sheared off"

it looks like the news is being manufactured to me

as an excuse to re-occupy Gaza and kill even more than the 300 Palestinians already killed for this MAYBE 1 MAYBE 2 deaths..

they just did more bombing last night OVERNIGHT - we don't even know how many MORE Palestainians have been killed yet - likely a dozen or so - we'll have to wait for the reports to come in and see - the total is climbing to almost 350 now..

This article says 23 deaths by Kassams. Interesting.

Whats fishy? Do you think she was targeted because she was a muslim married to a Jew?

what's fishy is exactly what I said

by hex Friday, Nov. 17, 2006 at 8:58 PM

nothing more or less

the news reports seem to be contradicting eachother and recycling the same details and still reporting "the first fatality" when this should be the second..

in any case the real point is -

nearly 350 Palestinians have been killed since the so-called Gaza "pull-out"

_many_ women & children too..

because the Israeli military is straffing crowds with fighter jets and dropping missiles/bombs in the middle of the night - they DON'T CARE WHO THEY KILL as long as it's Palestinians

and they're using the firing of a small number of mostly harmless unguided "play" rockets as the perfect excuse to CONTINUE DOING SO with the aim of RE-OCCUPYING Gaza (the end-goal)

"They said it took hours to gather body parts, which were scattered in a 50-meter, and bones and legs were found on the top of the trees and on car windshields"

The American mainstream media would never publish anything like this, esp. about a Jew.

Why don't you see what counterpunch or electronic intifada says about this incident?

hasbara games...
qassam-launch.jpg, image/jpeg, 550x400

mostly harmless "play" rockets because they

1.) are crude, small and unguided
2.) rarely hit anything at all or cause any damage much less injure or kill anyone

and after grabbing a picture of them *I* say that - the only kool aide I'm drinking is my own (with 8 grams of vitamin C in it too)

the *credible* news agencies I linked to above say "died of her wounds" - only one says the wild "body parts scattered all over" tale

which naturally is the one plastered here as "news"

cherry picked...

nearly 350 Palestinians have been killed MANY women & children since the so-called "pullout"

no one disputes *this*

300 peace groups call for Israeli boycott

International peace activists called for a boycott of Israeli products to protest Israel’s aggression against the Palestinians.

After a three-day conference in Malaysia, more than 300 civil groups from 34 countries agreed on a joint action plan to set up a center in Malaysia to coordinate the proposed boycott and support other activities of pro-Palestinian organizations.

The center will determine how to “organize a selective boycott of Israeli goods and divestment from that country in order to pressure Tel Aviv to withdraw completely from the West Bank and Gaza,” the joint action plan said.

Other proposals by the groups include demanding countries to stop their military dealings with Israel and to promote direct aid to the Palestinians as well as encouraging the imports of Palestinian products.

Chandra Muzafar, head of the Malaysian-based Just World movement, said that other civic organizations in the United States and Europe also want to enforce such a boycott in their countries.

He didn’t say when the boycott would come into force, or what kinds of products it will include.

“We will not rush into such an action,” Chandra told a press conference. “We want to study the various dimensions of this issue before making a move.”

Peace activists, legal experts and academics participated in the conference, sponsored by the People’s Alliance for Peace Malaysia, a grouping of 1,100 non-government organizations, religious groups and political parties.

Last year, the European Union said that it had enough safeguards to stop goods made by Jewish settlers from entering the 25-nation EU on preferential terms.

Also the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) demanded its 116 member states to bar all products emanating from the “illegal Israeli settlements” from entering their markets.

Global Boycott of Israeli Occupation

Despite ongoing human rights abuses and violations of international law by the government of Israel, the governments of Europe and America have continued to support such policies through uncritical aid and economic trade with the state of Israel. In order to address these violations at the grassroots level, we at the Palestine Monitor call upon all concerned citizens of the world to participate in the growing movement of popular sanctions against Israeli goods, including goods manufactured in the occupied territories and bearing a ‘Made in Israel’ label, a practice which violates the ‘Associations Agreement’ with the European Union to which Israel is signatory.

Such a boycott would run along the same lines as the one that helped bring about the end of the Apartheid regime in South Africa. By boycotting Israeli products and sponsors, all citizens can support the Israeli and Palestinian people in their struggle for peace, justice, and security.

If corporations see the international community rejecting Israeli goods in order to protest the illegal occupation of the West Bank and Gaza, they will have economic, social, and public relations incentives to cut ties with Israeli elements that sponsor unlawful policies and practices. This in turn will raise awareness about the Palestinian plight and put pressure on Israel to change its policies which violate international law. It also shows the Palestinian people that they are not alone in the global struggle for peace and justice, and it gives us the chance to be ethical consumers.

What can you do?

Boycott Israeli goods, such as:

• Delta Galil clothes manufacturers, the biggest supplier for Marks and Spencers, which also supply Calvin Klein, Gap, DKNY, and Hugo Boss.

• Jaffa oranges.

• Carmel (Agrexco, Ltd.) suppliers of dates, avocados, citrus fruits, salad vegetables, herbs and wines.

• There are many other Israeli products; these are just a few of the main ones.
Look for 7 290 at the start of barcode labels to identify Israeli goods.

Boycott Israeli supporters, such as:

• Caterpillar, the corporation that holds the sole contract for supplying military D9 bulldozers to the Israeli military. D9s are used as weapons by the Israeli army for the destruction of civilian homes, the bulldozing of Palestinian farmland, the construction of illegal roadblocks and checkpoints and the construction of the Apartheid wall, which was deemed contrary to international law by the International Court of Justice.

• Danone (which trades in Israel under the name Strauss Dairy) bottled water, biscuits and food.

• Israel is the largest research and development site for Microsoft Corporation outside of America. Bill Gates would serve world peace well by continuing his involvement in Israel but requesting that Israel end the occupation in accordance with international laws and UN resolutions in order to qualify for continued commercial opportunities. The same can be said for Intel Corporation, which has the largest production facilities outside of the U.S. located in Israel.

• Companies such as Johnson and Johnson, Coca Cola, Sara Lee, Estee Lauder and many more, all of which give strong financial support to Israel and therefore support the occupation’s war machine. For a full list of companies supporting Israel visit

Well, it looks like joining the murderous thieving Zionist invadors of Palestinian lands doesn't wrok out so well for all the murderous thieving Zionist crusaders. But if Zionists choose to sacrifice thier own children for thier own war of conquest (something Abram chose NOT to do), it is hard to imagine a Zionist would think twice about sacrificing his Muslim wife for his personal conquest.

Rocket attacks wound more Israelis

At least two Israelis have been seriously
wounded by the attacks

A second Qassam rocket strike has seriously wounded an Israeli security guard and a youth in Sderot.

Israeli medical sources said that several other residents of the town were slightly injured in the attack on Wednesday, hours after a woman was killed by rockets fired from Gaza.

Israel told the Palestinians they would "pay a heavy price".

The armed wing of the ruling Hamas movement, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, said it fired at least two salvoes at Sderot and claimed responsibility for the death.

It said the rocket attack was in response to Israeli shelling last week that killed 19 Palestinian civilians.

The Islamic Jihad group said it had also launched two rockets later in the day.

Sderot is a frequent target of Palestinian rocket squads because it lies just five kilometres from Gaza. Rockets also hit a nearby village but no one was wounded.

And after the armed terrorist invaders of Palestine are disarmed by sanctions and embargo ( screw boycott, that's too light for these killers ) they wont have jets and tanks and artillery and attack helicopters and all that grease for their killing machine. They will acquire necessary humility for survival. And Palestine can have peace.
