Michael Pisaro A room outdoors (James Orsher, harmonium; Michael Pisaro, guitar)
"A room outdoors" was composed for James Orsher. I was reading Ron Loewinsohn's incredible novel, "Magnetic Field(s)," at the time I was working on the piece this summer, and came across the description of a living room, made of discarded furniture, somewhere in the woods in the Hudson Valley. I began to wonder if tones from musical instruments could function like boundaries in a sonic thicket. The field recording used in this performance was made in the vicinity of Sandpaper Books.
