Carry on The Tradition of Resistance and Self-Determination!
November 2, 2006 is the 27th anniversary of the liberation of Assata Shakur from Clinton Correctional Facility in New Jersey. It is also the anniversary of the 5,000-strong march on the UN to protest Black Genocide. On the East Coast, the day is known as Black Solidarity Day.
One year after Hurricane Katrina, we can state that "Black Genocide" is not a figment of our imagination
The liberation of Assata Shakur is not only a victory for our movement but it is a shining example of resistance and self-determination that we need to follow today!
Join the Ida B. Wells Institute and others as we remember, honor and celebrate the liberation of Assata Shakur and re-dedicate ourselves to the cause of resistance and self-determination.
