Shambhala Art: Meditation and the Artist with Steven Saitzyk Suggested Donation: $10.00, 7:30 pm Oct 17, 2006

Art making and art viewing are inherently contemplative activities and naturally benefit from meditation. Meditation strengthens the art maker’s mindfulness and awareness. A creative process based in the discipline of meditation dissolves creative blockages and reveals the source of creativity, leading to clear perception, true spontaneity and pure expression. In the viewing process, meditation develops intuition, our felt sense, sharpens our native intelligence and can lead us toward an experience of the sublime.

Steven Saitzyk is an Adjunct Professor Liberal Arts & Sciences at Art Center College and is Director of Shambhala Art International, a nonprofit arts education program.
