For action alert (Your help is needed to help release Emad Mohammad Bornat of the village of Bil'in, video photographer for Reuters and documentary film maker, who was arrested on Friday October 6th,2006 by a Israeli Border Police unit that entered the village, firing rubber bullets and sound grenades.*Please, phone, fax, write to the addresses at*: base64:aHR0cDovL3RvaWJpbGxib2FyZC5pbmZvL2dvdl9hZGRyLnR4dCkg
At midday, Friday the 13th of October, the villagers of Bil'in will march in solidarity with Emad Bornat, the Reuters cameraman and video-journalist, also a resident of Bil'in. The demonstrators will hold up cameras as a sign of solidarity with Emad and protest against the Israeli army's crackdown on freedom of press.
Today, October 11th, at the appeal hearing, the Israeli military decided to launch an indictment against Emad. The judge will make a ruling tomorrow at 4pm, but that might not be the end of his captivity. After an initial hearing at Ofer military court on the 10th, military judge Shlomo Katz, ordered Emad to be released, but the Israeli military appealed this decision and said he should be held for a further 72 hours. The judge gave the army 24 hours to contest the judgement or indict him.
Emad Mohammad Bornat of the village of Bil'in, video photographer for Reuters and documentary film maker, was arrested on Friday October 6th, 2006 by a Israeli Border Police unit that entered the village, firing rubber bullets and sound grenades. Emad is being held in Israeli military custody and will be brought in front of a judge at Ofer military base tomorrow Tuesday the 10th of October.
Emad, who was filming at the time, was arrested by an Israeli Border policeman. When Emad arrived at the police station in Givat Zeev, he was wounded. The Border Police soldiers claimed a radio "fell" on him in the jeep, on the way to the station. He was taken to the Hadassah - Har Hatzofim hospital and was then taken back to the police station in Givat Zeev. After he was interrogated, the police refused to view the tapes that Emad filmed. Emad is accused of "assault on an officer" and of stone throwing and was sent to the Etzion prison. Israeli Border Police have in the past been rebuked by military judges on false testimonies towards arrested Palestinian demonstrators and their Israeli supporters.
Emad has tirelessly documented the struggle of his village against the wall and settlements, and is known by many other professionals with whom he works and cooperates, giving them video material for their films and reports. He is a man of peace and a dedicated and responsible video-photo-journalist. His video footage has been broadcast throughout the world, showing the demonstrations against the wall Israel is constructing on his village's land. It shows the routine, and often brutal, violence of the Israeli military in general and the Border Police in particular on the demonstrations, especially as used against Palestinians.

wow, is that post ever full of holes.
Bornat was arrested because he was "encouraging and directing rioters in Bil’in to throw large chunks of rock at Israeli vehicles in such a way as to cause maximum damage." There is video evidence of him shouting '“Throw, throw!” and later, “Throw towards the little window!” ' He wasn't a peaceful cameraman bystander. He was unquestionably and purposefully promoting violence.
Find out who you are protecting before you post.

The Guerrilla News Network web site seems slightly retro, slightly well-off, slightly out-of-kilter cool, like Lily Allen in a Che Guevara T-shirt. The guys may wear berets. They do guerrilla book reviews: you attack, and when the clumsy reaction force finally gets in place, you're gone! The review vanishes, as if it had never been, into some misty Sierra Madre of the internet.
In my case the attack was on The Case Against Israel, and the attacker is Ari Paul, who also does music reviews. I read the review, a couple of weeks late, I write a reply, I send it to GNN. But I don't get the guerrilla reviewers, I get the guerrilla apparatchiks. They only have first names, like code names.
First (not to count a message or two that go unanswered) my email with the reply gets returned undelivered. I write somebody else. He tells me to send it in the body of the email, to the original address, so I do. ( I guess they can't do WORD attachments up in the mountains.). The email gets returned undelivered. I send it to the somebody who tells me to re-send it. It doesn't get returned, but he wants the first sentence out; it offends the dignity of GNN. I say ok. Then I get the following, name removed for guerrilla-security reasons:
***
M- I just checked that article. We actually never posted it our front door. It was posted by Paul, but we never actually published it. Maybe Ari will post your response on his blog. It won't make any sense to our readers, who didn't read his original piece.
Best, [code name]
***
...which is what I mean by apparatchik. I send some snarky reply, I look for the review and quietly, suddenly, it's gone, gone from the GNN site. My message goes unanswered. Hit and run, like Ché.
Only this is more like hit and run, by drunk driver. His car hits a pedestrian in the night and he drives off, praying not to be detected. But Ari Paul's review leaves traces, and you can hunt it down, in Google's cache, complete with the logo of the guys who say they never actually published it. Here it is, though I feel like those heartless Bolivians displaying Ché's pale corpse. It's followed by my reply.

Figures... Didn't have to get into an argument with him, but I hate people throwing empty accusations without doing any actual research. Wouldn't be surprised if I've seen him on some forum already. Anyway, lack of his further remarks talks for itself.

"They had a chance to get practically everything they wanted - and they blew the chance."
Absolutely right. Prince Bandar of Saudi Arabia called Arafats refusal to accept Camp David a crime against the Palestinian people. The Palestinians were offered: 97% of the West Bank and 100% of the Gaza Strip- An additional land grant of 3% was to be offered as well. The creation of a Palestinian state in the areas of Israeli withdrawal The removal of most settlements and transfer of the land to Palestinian control settlements remaining under Israeli control Palestinian control over East Jerusalem, including most of the Old City 30 billion dollars as compensation for the "refugees"
"They never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity"
Most of the anti-Zionist contributors at this site don't even attempt to hide their anti-Semitism anymore. And yes, many are as mad as hatters. Welcome to the playground.

Take away Tinky Wink's empty accusations and you've taken away pretty much every part of his posts but the periods and the commas. The fun part is watching him have his anger-management-failure episodes every time he's been nailed to the wall again. Any opportunity he's ever had here to present himself as a reasonable, rational person, he's ended up machine gunning himself instead.

His family was butchered? I've never seen that. Have any sources? Because if his family actually was hurt and/or killed in war by British soldiers it's a whole other deal. So... Um... Sources?

That's the difference. If that man would be a victim - or his family would be - and he would come and yell at that soldier - it's one thing. It's more than understandable. But if his "brothers" are attacked in, say, Afghanistan, it's all different subject. Following that logic, can I go to, say, Hadassa Har ha Zofim (Mount Scopus) hospital and yell at Arabs there (at the very least) because their "brothers" attacks my "brothers" in Europe, destroy graves and kill Jews just for them being Jews?
