Phil Angelides strong & confident coming out of his first debate, "make the place where the Democratic wave breaks in CA." Arnold's re-election would mean a return to his special election issues that he said were good despite voters' sound repudiation last Nov.

Phil Angelides address to the rally in West Los Angeles:

Thirty days to go. Last night we saw the clear difference between our vision and the governor's lack of vision. We saw the clear difference between a Democratic ticket that's willing to stand up for hard working families in this state and a governor who stands for nothing. We saw the difference between a Democratic ticket that will stand up for education and health care for our people and side by side with firefighters and teachers and the police officers who serve our communities and a governor who just wants to save his job...

In the next thirty days, we're going to go all over the state...the end of the Bush-Schwarzenegger era is here and it's time for a new direction in California... What matters in the choice before us to bring change. Millions of people are counting on us... millions of children in the schools..all those young people with dreams of college and the tuition costs going up under Arnold S. and cost of student loans going up under President Bush. All those young people counting on us to throw open the doors to go to college. All those people working more than one job to put food on the table..just to meet the rapidly rising costs of living, health care, gas costs...all those people, they don't want anything more than a government that's on their side for a change. They're the backbone of this economy and society and millions of middle class families, hardworking families, are counting on us to win this election. I'm going to ask you to dig deep. I'm going to ask you to make the place where the Democratic wave breaks in California on the night of November 7th. I'm going to ask you to stand up and fight for your values.

Arnold and the Republicans, they know what's at stake. That's why the governor's already run with the Republican party million in attack ads, not talking about the governor's record, not talking about his plans for the future. Did you hear one word last night about what he wants to do improve schools? (crowd response--NO) One word about how he wants to help middle class families?(NO) One word about how he wants to expand health care? (NO) one word about how he wants to build a California where opportunity is available to everyone? (NO)

They know what's at stake. million in lies and distortions and a campaign team run by the same people who ran the Bush/Cheney campaign in 2004.

The people of California want a governor who's always on their side and doesn't just fake it for 60 days.

Last night's debate was a turning point... For the first time we had a chance to talk to the millions of Californians. And for the first time, clearly and directly, he let people know what he would do if re-elected.

Last night , when asked if he had any regrets, he said when he pushed his special election issues, he went too fast. He said they were good ideas. So now we know. If he is re-elected. we know what's going to happen. He campaigned in the recall like Mr Smith went to Washington, then governed as Freddy Kruger. And we know this, Freddy Kruger will be back ... He's going to do what he did before and attack nurses, teachers, police and firefighters. He's going to cut education and health care. But we're not going to let that happen....
