Revisions to Army Field Manual (Interrogation)

by Medusa (up)Rising Sunday, Oct. 01, 2006 at 1:29 AM

Interrogation techniques permitted for use as authorized by the Congress and the President of the United States (H.R. 6166).

Insert between pages 666 and 667.

Includes torture techniques now approved for general use to coerce those citizens and non-citizens certified by the President of the United States or by the Secretary of Defense as unlawful enemy combatants ("a person who has engaged in hostilities or who has purposefully and materially supported hostilities against the United States or its co-belligerents who is not a lawful enemy combatant").

Additional pages will be issued shortly. They are expected to include other useful interrogation methods including:

  • Sleep deprivation, perfected by witch-finder Matthew Hopkins, who secured 200 to 400 confessions. Interrogators should expect to use simple bell caps (among other musical tools), which, when secured to the prisoner's head, rings a loud bell whenever the prisoner relaxes their neck in preparation for sleeping.
  • We also anticipate issuing straight belts, used to hold the prisoner's wrists securely to their waist.
  • We are reviewing the noise-maker's fife, which straps a collar to the prisoner's neck and pinches their fingers into vises on either side of a horizontal pole extending from the collar.
  • Interrogators will be issued pears of anguish as soon as we can attach a limiter to the current model, which unfortunately allows the vagina, anus, or mouth to be torn beyond acceptable limits.

Scavenger's Daughter

by Medusa (up)Rising Sunday, Oct. 01, 2006 at 1:29 AM

Induces a stress position that immobilizes the prisoner. Can be used with the prisoner "standing," forcing them to remain bent over until they relent. More recent models include turnbolts that can decrease the reach between the wrists and ankles.

Gibbet

by Medusa (up)Rising Sunday, Oct. 01, 2006 at 1:29 AM

Used to restrain a prisoner. Often hung from a gallows for public humiliation and, often, slow death.

Dunking Stool

by Medusa (up)Rising Sunday, Oct. 01, 2006 at 1:29 AM

Used to force confessions by repeated submerging in water so the prisoner has the sensation of suffocation. See also "waterboard."

Heretic's Fork

by Medusa (up)Rising Sunday, Oct. 01, 2006 at 1:29 AM

Using a pole attached to a strap around the neck, the prisoner is forced to remain in this position. This original model had skin-piercing prongs. Army-issued models are modified to have dull prongs. Note: the heretic's fork makes speech difficult. Listen carefully for an indication from the prisoner that they are willing to cooperate.

Pillory

by Medusa (up)Rising Sunday, Oct. 01, 2006 at 1:29 AM

This device is useful for inducing stress and can be successfully coupled with public humiliation. We will soon be issuing two models of barrel pillory, one without a bottom to allow the prisoner to walk while contained in the barrel, and the second with a bottom, which requires the prisoner remain in their own excrement. A similar device, known as the stocks, is less useful as it allows the prisoner to sit, thus ameliorating some of the stress. We do not expect to be issuing stocks.

Brank

by Medusa (up)Rising Sunday, Oct. 01, 2006 at 1:29 AM

Not visible in this picture is a mouthpiece that prevents the prisoner from speaking. Notice the addition of a loop suitable for attaching the prisoner to an available wall.
