The United States has just reached an historic milestone; the population has topped 300 million; and protecting the health of this nation has become a national crisis. Within the next three decades many Americans will not reach the age of 70 due to the lack of health care or not being able to afford proper health care insurance.
Today over 43 million Americans are without health care, and over 45 percent of all American families are without affordable health care insurance and the numbers are rapidly growing. The U.S. has better health care treatment and facilities than anywhere else worldwide; and it is the worlds most expensive. The U.S. is spending over trillion on health care and the cost is rapidly climbing.

Stewart Alexander, Candidate for California Lieutenant Governor, says it is time for California and America to make the move toward a universal health care system. Alexander has been supportive of California Senate Bill 840; a state bill that would have made health care more affordable for all Californians and could serve as a national model for universal health care.
“It is unfortunate that Governor Schwarzenegger vetoed this important Senate Bill. In his unusually long veto, dissertation, the governor chose to protect private wealth over the public’s health,” says Alexander.
Stewart Alexander has a six year plan to bring affordable health care to California.
First; Alexander wants to open affordable health care clinics throughout California to make doctor visits more accessible. Alexander hopes to open more than 500 clinics statewide for general medical assistance. The clinics would be “Sustainable Health Care Clinics.”
Secondly; Alexander believes it is necessary for California to establish a single payer health care system to insure that the health care needs of all are protected.
Alexander says he strongly believes in his party’s platform, the Peace and Freedom Party, advocating free high quality health care for everyone. While the PFP considers itself the advocate for “those without capital in a capitalist society,” Alexander points out that universal health care in California would be a big benefit to California businesses as well as workers, because health care cost to employers would drop, and the extreme high cost of inferior worker compensation insurance would go down sharply.
Alexander also believes, businesses could expand their benefit packages with the knowledge that health care would no longer be a rising and unpredictable part of their cost burden. Also public agencies would no longer be in jeopardy of having to declare bankruptcy or having to make cuts in services and jeopardizing public safety.
Alexander says, “It is unfortunate that the present day leadership in America’s one party system is continuing down another road that will lead to disaster; the health care of over 300 million Americans and the future of this nation are at stake.”
