"WE WILL NOT BE SILENT" was a statement by the student resistance movement in Nazi Germany called The White Rose. This is a statement of purpose, intended to inspire acts of resistance and dissent, against a corrupt government that abuses its power and abandons the rule of law.

Today we need a strong, vocal response against this Administration. Its policies threaten our common decency and the very principles upon which Democracy is established. The U.S. Government’s actions have led to an illegal war, torture and illegal detentions, warrantless domestic spying, the threat of an even more cruel and punishing immigration policy, and failed domestic programs that have left thousands to suffer after the devastation of Katrina.

All of us who believe in our freedom and that of others, social justice, peaceful co-existence, generosity not greed, and are against a policy of war, torture and lies, cannot afford to be silent.
