You are probably all aware that Code Pink had a hugely successful "Bring

the Troops Home Fast" campaign in DC where many people fasted to bring

the troops home "FAST". They were noticed by the Iraqi government officials

visiting Washington, DC and even invited to Iraq to propose ideas on how

to do just that!

August 6th of course, saw a plethora of demonstrations around the world as

it is the anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing: Lockhead Martin, Bechtel,

Raytheon, Livermore Nuclear Weapons Lab,

"events taking place in over 70 cities in 27 states, culminating on August 9th,

the anniversary of the Nagasaki bombing, under the banner, “From Hiroshima to

Yucca Mountain to the Middle East: No Nukes! No Wars! End War Profiteering!

Support Indigenous Rights!” A major focus of the demonstrations was Bechtel

Corporation, one of the largest beneficiaries of both the Iraq war and all things

nuclear."

Many demonstrations around the world were focused on the Israeli invasion of

Lebanon and the illegal invasion of Iraq.

Iraq combat veteran Ricky Clousing, Lt. Watada, Kyle Snyder, Mark Wilkerson are

a group of very brave soldiers who are speaking out against this illegal war and

are facing court martial for their actions.

And demonstrations at the homes of government officials continue.

A global day of demonstrations resulted in: "30,000 fill the streets around the White

House......In San Francisco, 10,000 people marched in one of several other August 12

actions timed to coincide with the Emergency March on Washington. In Los Angeles

5,000 demonstrated. Smaller actions of about 600 people in Seattle and 300 people

in Orlando Florida were also held. Street demonstrations were held in Mombasa and

Nairobi, Kenya; Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, Canada; Madrid, Spain; Paraguay;

Damascus, Syria; Santiago, Chile; Mumbai, India; Istanbul, Turkey; Mogadishu,

Somalia; Dhaka, Bangladesh; Karachi, Pakistan; Jakarta, Indonesia; Sydney, Australia;

Nablus, Palestine; Sao Paulo, Brazil; and many others."

Of particular interest were demonstrations in the United Kingdom that mirrored the Camp

Casey demonstrations, where camps were set up for several days at a time to protest

against nuclear facilities, environmentally hazardous power plants and a base where

the US Military are refueling.

14,000 UK soldiers went AOL last year.

A Veteran's for Peace conference was held in Seattle.

Cindy Sheehan was very active even though she spent several days in the hospital. "Among

the 50 protesters outside the Renaissance Austin Hotel Saturday was anti-Iraq war Cindy

Sheehan. Chanting 'Try Rove for treason,' she said Rove planned the war that killed her son

and she wanted him arrested."

Congressional candidates are running on a platform of pushing for Impeachment of the

Bush Administration, and for providing a true independent investigation into the unanswered

questions surrounding 9/11. One very bold "Republican Congressional Candidate Fingers the

Bushies for planning 9/11."

Of course, Bush, Cheney, Rice and Rove continue to dodge protesters in their travels.

The Mayor of Salt Lake City attended a demonstration against the visit by Bush to his

city which brought about attack adds on him from the Republicans in his state.

And finally, in Minnesota: "Bass Fishermen Against Bush: Lake Minnetonka Protest".
