THIS WEEK'S PROGRAM

Tolling the Retirement Bell in America:

Bush Signs the New Pension Bill

With

Jack Rasmus, author of The War At Home:

The Corporate Offensive from Reagan to Bush

While the new pension legislation is supposed to protect and strengthen private pension funds, many think it is part of a new three-sided attack on Defined Benefits Pensions. In conjunction with the recent federal Court's decision of 8/7 legalizing conversion of traditional plans to 401ks, & the upcoming pension accounting rules bombshell that will further undermine all pensions, the new legislation will accelerate the collapse of Defined Benefit (mostly union) pension plans. This will require a massive (minimum of 0 billion) bailout of the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation within the next few years at workers' and taxpayers expense.
