SISTER HELEN PREJEAN, THE DEATH ROW NUN, BLACKLISTED BY THE ARCHDIOCESE OF DULUTH BECAUSE SHE OPPOSES BUSH

Sister Helen Prejean of “Dead Man Walking” fame was univited to be the speaker at the Catholic Diocese of Duluth’s fundraising dinner to be held on October 1st. This was due to the fact that Sister Helen signed onto a worldcantwait advertisement against George W Bush that appeared in the New York Times August 3rd. Apparently the Diocese supports George W. Bush whose gubernatorial reign sent more people to death in the execution chamber than any other Governor in US history. How long will Sister Helen be blacklisted? Why should her voice against Bush preclude her from discussing other topics such as the death penalty? The diocese says it would never tell someone what to say at the dinner. Well, they apparently don’t want her to say anything. This is a shameful act by the Diocese of Duluth against one of America’s truly great heroines of human rights. We truly are living in a scary time when the freedom of speech and our very basic rights at citizens are being destroyed before our eyes.
