South Central Farmers and Supporters Back In Action!

The media and the politicians would have you believe that the struggle of the South Central Farmers has gone and disappeared! We have re-organized and are back on the scene to fight injustice and the lack of consideration for the South Central Farmers by the City of Los Angeles and its Politicians.

WHAT: Back on the Scene; Protest outside Walt Disney Center

WHO: South Central Farmers and Supporters

WHY: While we have lost temporary control of the South Central Farm, the needs of the community still have not been met, to speak out against the continued injustice against the arrestees, the lack of consideration for the South Central Farmers by the City of Los Angeles, and the City Council, and the unjust rules passed by the city council to censure the community’s voice that is speaking against the “rubber stamping” by the City Council.

WHEN: 6:00 pm, August 18th, 2006 (flyer for the event)

WHERE: Walt Disney Concert Hall, 111 South Grand Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90012.

Councilperson Perry, and Eric Garcetti would have you believe that the South Central Farmers and their supporters have gone and disappeared. They would have you believe that by passing some rule changes in City Council they can silence the “civil unrest” sprouting in the politically neglected communities. Eric Garcetti would have you believe that the deal to save the farm failure was dues to the leadership not willing to walk-out of the encampment. Councilperson Perry would have you believe that by razing the South Central Farm she could prune the blossoming movement to evict her from city council. Councilperson Perry would have you believe that by renaming South Central Los Angeles to the new “South Los Angeles” all her obligations to the impoverish community would disappear.

Aqui estamos y No nos Vamos!!!!! Q: Eric, what did your father give you? A: 4 more years; priceless!

“I’m in solidarity with these farmers, even if no one cares at City Hall. There are many who do care. You heard the update from the attorney, Dan Stormer, and I think this is a great legal case. We could actually end up with a caring Judge, ruling on facts. This would lead to the Farm being restored to its original state. Whether we win in court, or pay for the Farm with money on the table, we intend to get this land back.”

–Congressperson Maxine Waters

“…And the woman who came over to me and cried because of how they bulldozed her vegetables. She spoke about the demise of a squash as though it were her child. Tears literally streamed down her eyes. For me the experience simply reinforced my dedication to these splendid people. And it further polarized the difference between them and the "show me the money" opposition. …These farmers have proven their talent, and their non violent persistence. They will always work. They are valuable to themselves and the community. Everybody, including their opposition, knows it.”
