Hope everyone out there is having a great summer. As August flies by, we find ourselves busily preparing for the 2006 Student/Farmworker Alliance Encuentro, taking place September 21-24 in Immokalee, Florida.
The Encuentro will be a weekend-long gathering bringing together more than fifty of the nation’s sharpest young organizers and activists to discuss and strategize the next steps in the farmworker solidarity movement.
For more information and to register, visit:
http://sfalliance.org/2006encuentro.html We need your help today to make the Encuentro a reality.
Through our organizing work in partnership with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers and our victory in the Taco Bell boycott, we have become one of the most recognized and dynamic youth movements in the country. Yet we remain a grassroots operation; the costs associated with successfully carrying out the Encuentro can be quite daunting for an organization with our limited financial means.
Please take a moment today to make a donation which will directly help us cover the costs of travel scholarships, housing and workshop space, food, materials and other necessary logistics.
You can make a one-time secure online donation to the SFA or sign up for automatic monthly donations via our Sustainer Program – an exciting effort to become a more self-sustaining organization – at
http://sfalliance.org/donate.html By supporting the Encuentro and the work of the SFA in solidarity with the CIW, you are helping to bring us all closer to a better world, one that is not only possible but already under construction.
Thanks for your support!
In solidarity,
Student/Farmworker Alliance
