Alexander says, “Schwarzenegger has done little to control spiraling inflation in California since he was elected in 2003, he has also done little to help Californians to keeps up with the higher cost of living. Two years ago many Californians were looking for a second job to help pay their bills, now many Californians are looking for a second job just to pay for gasoline.”

Stewart Alexander is charging Governor Schwarzenegger for not taking a stronger position to control gasoline price gouging in California. Californians are paying on average .25 cents more per gallon than the national average and the governor has done little to curtail the increase pricing statewide.

Throughout Southern California 87 octane is now selling above .30 and premium is above .50 a gallon. People are reducing their driving to cut cost however families are paying hundreds of dollars monthly at the pumps.

Schwarzenegger has not offered a real plan to provide any relief at the pumps and he has failed to address the most important issue that every household in California is struggling with on a daily basis.

Alexander is proposing to get citizens directly involved in the war on rising gasoline prices; his plan would be to form a statewide citizen advisory committee that would examine the causes for gasoline price increases and to formulate a plan that could be implemented by the governor, the legislature and the people of California. Alexander believes it is crucial to get the public involved on this very important issue.

In recent press release Alexander said the oil giants have gotten too big for Washington DC; ‘I don’t think they are too big for the people that are buying their products everyday,” says Alexander.

In 2005 Stewart Alexander organized a statewide boycott against the oil producing giants to challenge the rising cost of fuel; the goal was to have 87 octane and diesel at or below .25 a gallon. Alexander says he still remains committed to that goal.

Alexander is the Lieutenant Governor Candidate for the Peace and Freedom Party and the organization is committed to challenging rising gasoline prices, and protecting consumer rights, consumer price protection, and insuring that workers receive affordable income to compensate for the cost of living.

“Schwarzenegger is in the 11th hour before the California General Election and the governor has not done any better on the gasoline crises than what he had accomplished with his 2005 Special Election. On the gasoline issue Schwarzenegger receives a failing grade,” says Alexander.
