Julia Butterfly Hill Returns As Farmers and Supporters Maintain Vision For Saving The Farm

Los Angeles – An all-day musical festival and family street fair is taking place at South Central Farm Sunday, June 25 from 10 am - 11 pm. The Street Fair aims to increase the vision for saving the farm and offer more the public a view of this unique and special place that keeps bringing people together. Farmers will offer delicious food and fresh produce for sale on Martin Luther King St., which is closed for the occasion. Art and face painting for children young and old will contribute to the festivities. 12 different musical groups will energize fairgoers as they learn more about the farm and why it is important for Los Angeles to keep it as a model for urban renewal.

Julia Butterfly Hill returns from abroad to speak and visit the farm in her ongoing pledge of solidarity with the farmers and supporters.

The number of supporters grows daily as evidenced by the widespread cheering and interest in Venice on Saturday at the Family Friendly Parade for the South Central Farm. The colorful parade wound through the streets and boardwalk of Venice Beach with puppets and performers. The public’s overwhelming response was a desire to learn more about the farm. These parades will be a regular event in different areas of the city each weekend.

Photos of the spirited precession are available on request by emailing southcentralfarmers@yahoo.com.

The 7 pm nightly prayer vigils continue around the farm. The blessing ceremony circumnavigates the property and extends into greater L.A. The farm is not destroyed nor is the movement to mobilize supporting factions, maintaining hope for a greener and healthier Los Angeles.

Attorney Dan Stormer is currently in preparation for the case to investigate the legality of the city’s sale of the farm back to Mr. Horowitz, slated for trial July 12.
