'GOP Democrat' Howard Berman Ignores Constituents and Forwards Personal
Pro-War Agenda

June 19, 2006

LOS ANGELES, CA. -- Rep. Howard Berman (D-Van Nuys) Voted on Friday to
Support Iraqi War by Blocking US Exit Strategy.
Green Party Congressional Candidate Byron De Lear, Progressive Democrats
Charles Coleman Jr., Michael Jay and Community Leaders Call for Anti-War
Coalition to Oppose Berman.

Press Conference to be held at Rep. Berman's district office on Thurs, June
22, 10:30am at 14546 Hamlin Street, Van Nuys, CA. 91411.

"Berman Sides with GOP on Iraq" -- was the front page headline of the June
17th edition of Los Angeles Daily News. Berman is furthered quoted "I voted
for today's resolution on Iraq because I agree with what it calls for:
success in the 'mission to create a sovereign, free and united Iraq' I still
have hope that we can accomplish that mission."

A recent CBS poll showed 80 percent of the nation's Democrats oppose the
Iraqi war and this is no different in the San Fernando Valley district that
Howard Berman represents. The constituents in the 28th congressional
district are upwards of 75 per cent registered Democrats and overwhelmingly
fall in line with the national consensus of wanting to end this tragedy by
bringing our troops home now.
"With over 2500 US soldiers dead and thousands more critically injured in
the ongoing conflict it is reprehensible that any person of conscience would
deny facts that have been candidly revealed by commanders on the ground and
forward a policy that is doomed to failure" said De Lear.

Press Conference to be held at Rep. Berman's district office on Thurs, June
22, 10:30am at 14546 Hamlin Street, Van Nuys, CA. 91411.

Call to action to oppose Berman has also been signed on by Edwin Ramirez --
president of the Pacoima Neighborhood Council, Eugene Hernandez -- director
of Sylmar Neighborhood Council, Blase Bonpane -- international humanitarian
and founder of the Office of the Americas, the Los Angeles and San Fernando
Greens and many others.
