LOS ANGELES -- A member of the Minuteman is paired with a family of illegal immigrants (undocs) for an episode on the FX reality series "30 Days". The reality series is aimed at providing people with a chance to see life from different perspectives.
The episode is schedule to air on August 2, 2006 on the FX Networks. 30 Days is the brainchild of filmmaker Morgan Spurlock whose documentary "Super Size Me" received an Academy Award nomination.
The episode shows Frank, of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, living with a Mexican family of seven who is in the US undocumented. (To all you antis reading this, no Frank did not rat the peeps out to the BP. Instead, the FX Network suggested the family seek legal advice.)
With the family of seven undocs, Frank shares a one-bedroom apartment and day-to-day life and struggles of the family in Los Angeles during the filming of the episode.
And – get this – Frank accompanies the family to the GRAN MARCHA, the pro-immigrant rally that drew over a million peeps to downtown Los Angeles.
John Landgraf, president of FX Networks, stated that the network remained within the law while filming the episode. "We suggested the family seek outside legal counsel," Landgraf told the Daily Journal of Los Angeles. He said, “Participants were not paid and the family's real surnames are not used.”
Spurlock's 30 Days series debuts on July 26, 2006 with an episode documenting life inside a county jail in Virginia.
