Terrence McNally's Controversial Play Corpus Christi

Originally opened in 1998 to bomb threats and protests, Terrence McNally's Corpus Christi is the re-telling of the Jesus story with Jesus as a gay man living in 1950's Corpus Christi, Texas. To further queer the story, 6 of the male disciples will be played by women.


Corpus Christi is the story of Jesus a retold in the form of a "gay
passion play" that takes place in 1950's Corpus Christi, Texas. Joshua,
a gay man represents Jesus. In our production of Terrence McNally's
controversial play, 6 of the male disciples will be portrayed by women.
Corpus Christi will be performed in a 99 seat equity waiver theatre
(our church), with working actors and we hope to encourage the glbt
community to come and enjoy a unique theatre experience.

Corpus Christi will be performed at Metropolitan Community Church in
the Valley
5730 Cahuenga Blvd., in the North Hollywood Arts District.
Tickets are $15 General Admission, $12 Students & Seniors, $10 for
groups of five or more.
