The Historic Filipinotown residents and organizations will commemorate the centenary of the Filipino workers migration to the United States in 2006 with the holding of the 2nd annual Historic Filipinotown Mayflower Festival (Flores De Mayo) on Saturday, May 27 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM in Historic Filipinotown, Los Angeles. Philippine Idol- the famous singer-April Boy Regino who is in Los Angeles for his show was invited to perform during the festival.

Los Angeles-

In Historic Filipintown, Los Angeles one of the areas where Filipino settled in the late 20th century, the event will be marked by a Santacruzan – Flores De Mayo, a cultural activity The event that will start at 12;00 PM from the Carandolet St. (between Beverly and Temple Sts.) There will be a procession that will traverse Beverly Blvd, Rampart Ave to Temple St to Carandolet St where the procession will end and a closing program will begin. At 4:00 PM

The Reynas and sagalas are the following; Reyna Emperatris -RoseRallos; Reyna Elena- Melanie Rubio; Reyna Delas Flores- Malou Bangui; Reyna Bandera -Jinjin Morada ; Reyna Paz- Nonette Gernonica; Rosa Mistica- Chit Sanchez; Reyna Fe- Eden Abueg; Reyna Delos Virgenes- Priscilla Jarvata; Reyna Ester- Nita Sagala; Reyna Esperanza- Mila Lingad; Reyna Del Cielo-Linda Jayme Waits; Reyna Mora- Inday Bordaje and Angeli Tuhawan- Reina Delos Estrellas. The other sagalas are Ria Ashley Salvador, Allyson Marquez, Daylan Marquez, Jadine Salvador, Jasmine Morada, Micayla Ganioco and Jasmine Bertsch.

Different bands like Maya Banka, Minus and Broken Chord will play for the crowds. There will also be cultural presentations like folkdances, arnis and other presentations. The community and private organizations will display or exhibits their materials for outreach by having a table during the program at Carandolet St. from 12:00 to 5:00 PM. The procession featuring the more than 20 May Queens and the sagalas will start at 3:00 PM and the closing program will start at 4:00 PM.

The Historic Filipinotown Flores De Mayo Organizing Committee is composed of the Echo Park Community Coalition (EPCC), People's Community Organization for Reform and Empowerment (People’s CORE), Pilipino Workers Center (PWC), Filipino American Service Group Inc (FASGI) , Justice For Filipino American Veterans (JFAV) and To Help Everyone Clinic (THE)

Participating organizations are the Central Adult Day Health Care Center, GEPENC District 5, Knights of Columbus, Batangas Seniors, Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital, Bata Ka Pa Project, HALP. D’FILAM, Ladies of Rizal, Association of Filipino Workers(AFW), Youth Unite, St. Anne’s Choir, Golden Agers of Los Angeles (GALA), Society of Guerilla and Scouts Inc(SGSI), VFP and others.
