A potential compromise on immigration reform might be reached soon in the Senate but some immigration advocates are against the Hagel-Martinez legislation. On Tuesday, the March 25th Coalition will hold a press conference calling upon Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer to support full legalization and vote against the Hagel-Martinez compromise.

Who – March 25th Coalition (sponsored by coalition members and the 100+ organizations that support its efforts)

What – Press Conference with March 25th Coalition to make the following demands: “No Compromise” on the Hagel-Martinez legislation; full legalization now; and no “Border War” or militarization of the U.S.-Mexico border

Where – Edward Roybal Federal Building, 300 N. Los Angeles Street, Los Angeles, 90012 (the west side facing the Los Angeles mall; nearest cross street is East Temple Street) Click here for a map.

When – Tuesday, May 23, 2006, 4 p.m.

Why – Senators Feinstein and Boxer represent California, the largest state of the union and home to the greatest number of immigrants. March 25th Coalition members feel they have not demonstrated leadership on immigration reform because they do not oppose the Hagel-Martinez legislation and both voted for the construction of the border wall amendment introduced last week.
