Don White will be speaking on "The Social Justice Struggle: Latin America Shows Us the Way" on Monday, May 8, 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. in the Golden Eagle Ballroom, third floor, at Cal State L.A.
Don White is the Los Angeles Director of CISPES, the Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador, and is on both the board of radio station KPFK and the Pacifica Radio National Board. He has also been active for some time in organizing the Los Angeles peace marches and other progressive events.
Don began his political work in the 1950's organizing against the House UnAmerican Activities Committee, a McCarthyite institution of the era. He was part of the anti-war movement of the Vietnam war period and, in 1980, helped found CISPES, the Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador. He has made14 trips to El Salvador both during and after the war. Don serves on the Boards of Office of the Americas, Americans for Democratic Action, and the Coalition for World Peace. He taught for 35 years with the Los Angeles Unified School District. He is now working on a variety of social justice projects. He took graduate work here at Cal State L.A. and was a student of both Donald and Marjorie Bray.
