From East Los Angeles to Historic Olvera Street and Chinatown Stores Shut Their Doors to commerce.

Independent shopkeepers and store owners closed their businesses in solidarity, or out of necessity, for May Day Protests. Whether it was due to a labor shortage or financial sacrifice large stores, and small independent mom & pop shops did not open for commerce. The streets of East Los Angeles were not bustling with shoppers exchanging money with local stores, but were filled with activists making their way downtown. At Cinco Puntos in E. LA, at Cesar Chavez and Alma, El Super Grocery Store usually busy parking lot was turned into a vacant lot.
