SOUTH CENTRAL LOS ANGELES, April 14, 2006

According to south central farmers a unit from the LAPD Department of Internal Affairs came to the farm on Thursday to take statements from witnesses about the events surrounding Council Member Zine’s visit to the farm last Tuesday night.

A call to LAPD media relations confirmed that an investigation is under way. No details of the investigation will be released while the investigation is ongoing. At issue is the farmers’ claim that one of the officers pointed a gun at a 13 old year daughter of one of the farmers.

In a statement from Zine’s office the councilman asserts that the patrol car he was riding in was tailgated and nearly struck and that he feared for his safety. Zine claims he saw no weapon drawn.
