Have you ever seen a sharpened pencil shot into a thick wooden board at more than 400 miles per hour? It passes half way through the board and stops. The hole perfectly fits the pencil and the lead is still sharp.

At speeds such as that which the jet was flying, I am not surprised to see the jet enter the building as the videos show. Also, if you watch the videos, you will see that some matter is spewing out of the building as the plane collides, which is to be expected. Exactly where the engines (the densest part of the plane) enter the building, even more matter is spewed outward (as would be expected).

The video and photographic evidence does not lead me to the conclusion that a commercial type jet flew into each of the twin towards. However, the zooming out of the videos just before impact is unusally coincidental given that no one knew what it would hit. This implies foreknowledge and foreknowledge implies that it was an inside job.

There are also many other reasons to believe that 9/11 was an inside job. Theories which make bogus claims about the behavior of a jet crashing into a building at 450 miles per hour, however, tend to discredit the rest of us who believe that 9/11 was an inside job. The claims about the impact of the planes on the buildings will be refuted and, therefore, all "conspiracy" theories will be painted with the same negative brush.

I've noticed quite a bit of chaff on the issue and it does make sense that these bogus side issues come up.

There is too much involvement on the part of the government's mere cover up of the evidence to indict them.

These are the same kind of attempts at misdirection and traps into ridicule that is/was made to link 'phony' moon landing 'conspiracy' or UFO themes into serious research.

I agree with the above postees that one has to be judicious and critical in even looking at evidence that 9/11 is hoax. This is not to discredit this perspective, because there is more evidence coming out to suggest that it was an insider job (see Loose Change by Dylan Avery). But you have to be careful because there are several indications that the 9/11 Hoax camp has already been completely infiltrated by agents of misinformation whose objective is to discredit the movement to get at the truth. The conflict between the "War for Oil" people (Is their website still up, whoever they are?) and the Von Kleist/9/11 in Plane Site camp is evidence of this. The introduction of bogus scientific theories like the one mentioned above is another disinformation tactic. So I'm not really sure where the 911Hoax website/blog (or whatever it is) is coming from. The Moussaui case is the U.S. government's last effort to legitimize their false account of events. See my other post for why I believe this is significant at this juncture.

That some of this nonsense-on-stilts is coming from genuine cranks, people who either never passed even a high school physics course and don't know that the universe is not required to operate according to the expectations of the ignorant, or people who really ought to know better but are engaged in the equivalent of "lying for Jesus" for the sake of an ideologically pretedermined conclusion?

If you gain even a passing familiarity with Moon Hoax twinkies it quickly becomes clear that conspiracy theories involving science and engineering have quite an attraction for kooks, intellectually dishonest ideologues and hucksters. Seeing the same thing among 9/11 conspiracy-mongers comes as no surprise to someone who makes a sort of hobby of watching the paranoid conspiracism industry.

It sure is temptingly convenient to attribute the most ridiculous of the PCT claims to "infiltrators" and "disinformation". It permits blaming everything- both the 9/11 attacks and specious claims about them- on one's chosen Evil Other and it helps boost the conspiracist ego by creating the impression that one is on to Something Really Big; if not, why would you be under "attack" by "disinfomationists"?

Unfortunately, this knee-jerk reaction is terribly unfair- to the kooks, cranks and crackpots of this world, who work hard to maintain their ignorance and to splash their fantasies over the Web. They deserve proper recognition for their efforts.

Ultimately, even granting the possibility of "infiltrators", how can one distinguish between one and a bona fide nutbar simply by their claims? I doubt that any really reliable diagnostic is in the offing.

Better to learn about the logical fallacies most loved by conspiracy-mongers, learn something about how the physical universe actually operates and develop a working bullshit detector. That's much more productive and beneficial than spending your time looking under the bed for ideological enemies.
