Protesters

by johnk Tuesday, Mar. 28, 2006 at 6:16 PM

Most of the protesters today (Monday) are "legal" and probably the majority are citizens.

The law, if passed, would put even people with green cards under scrutiny.

By being here, the immigrants can help improve their country. The small payments sent to their families overseas are the only way they'll get stable currencies and access to the US economy.

MEXICAN/LATIN PRIDE

by TERESITA GONZALEZ Tuesday, Mar. 28, 2006 at 6:50 PM
crazedbiatch666@yahoo.com

well i don't think it's fair that this new law known as "HR4437" now takes our rights away because my poeple ,the mexicans, come here only to make something of their lives. they didn't come here to harm anyone or anything they came here for a better life. and i 'm not just talking about the mexicans i mean the salvi's and latin blacks too. Latinos arn't the enemy we are part of the solution. and you'll see this country wouldn't even be close to what it is if it weren't for the latinos , a white man would never do a mexican's job . this country is nothing without us thats why this is so unfair , they use us for war but try to kick us out when they don't need us any more . So latinos out there stand up for your rights and alwayz have latin pride.we do make a difference!!!

Unsubstantiated assertion.

ok

i respect you comment but ok well think about the mexicans that are legal and protested i mean they had to get there one way. they didnt just land there and they will be afected by it if their parents are illegal or wat ever they get affected. we are protesting bcuz we are standing up for the mexican race and letting american know were fighting for our rights and letting them know we are here to better our lives. and i mean you could get welfare or that with papers so i despise the people that argue about us taking their welfare. i think they should have never even thought about this law and we could have gone great but one last thing theyve been saying we look like dumbasses protesting well im just pissed offf about that i mean let us protest and worry about your stuff

HR4437

I don't agree with HR4437 but I do agree that the U.S. government should efforce some laws to any individual who's a threat to citizens and the government. People should obey the laws, no matter what country you are going to! If it's the U. S. , Mexico, Russia, etc.
I hope that the U.S. government finds a solution to this immigration problem . For the sake of the honest and hardworking people not just Mexican because I'm sick and tired of hearing that! I have met a few focks that are even from other countries, El Salvadro, Africa, and even Russia, decent people that are also looking for a better life. I'm Mexican too, but I don't over exaggerate. I'm grateful how God made me that's all it counts to me! I just hope this law doesn't pass.
Peace Out!

The converse hasn't been substantiated either, but it's constantly asserted by the anti-immigrant side.

Here's the basis for my conjecture:

* People who really don't have papers are somewhat less likely to ditch class, due to the increased risk. Geenrally, undocumented people tend to lay low.

* People who have parents who are legal immigrants will still be motivated to march.

* People who have parents who are not legal immigrants may, themselves, be legal, by birth.

* People who have been here from before the last round of amnesty are likely to have green cards.

* People without papers constitute a minority of the Mexican and Central American communities.

* The protesters I was near sounded mostly like Americans.
