Bring your pens and favorite journal, because during the latter part of the class we will put our creativity into practice. By the end you will have written a manifesto or have made a great start. Who are the South Central Farmers and why do they need a fundraiser? In the middle of gray warehouses and busy train tracks, there lies a 14-acre oasis of farmland. It is the South Central Farm: The USA's largest urban garden, a nonprofit tilled by over 350 families, one providing food and green space for a self-sustaining community. Due to legal ambiguities and back-handed deals, the farmers are currently fighting eviction, and in great danger of watching their livelihood become demolished into yet another warehouse.
