[I recorded the memorial service for Frank Wilkinson in eight mp3 files, and am posting them here for those who were unable to attend and hear these inspiring words about an inspiring person. If there is any problem or question, please email me at:

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend Frank Wilkinson's memorial service on Saturday, January 28, 2006. A warm, generous, fiercely committed and courageous man, Frank received an inspiring, moving memorial service as family, friends, activists, community members, elected officials, musicians, and others, gathered to commemorate this crusader for housing rights, civil liberties, racial justice, and world peace.

As the mp3 audio recordings attest to, Frank's influence extended far and wide, though he was perhaps most famous for his housing work with the people of Chavez Ravine, fighting for integrated public housing in LA, and helping take down the McCarthyist House Unamerican Activities Committee.

Please also read about Frank's life and legacy. There are many sources of information online, but one of the best local sources for information on Frank and the work he was involved with is at the Southern California Library on Vermont in South Central LA.

If you would like to contribute a recollection or photo of Frank, go to the blog http://frankwilkinson.blogspot.com

[Note: The first few seconds of the first mp3 are chopped off; it starts with Jan Breidenbach speaking. The rest of the files continue on in sequence with no time breaks between them. I broke them up to make it easier for download; I will try uploading them in the comments section.]
