San Francisco artist Michelle Muldrow creates painterly landscapes often derived from urban sprawl, shipping yards and deserted shopping malls. In imagery that blurs the line between abstraction and representation, Muldrow captures a glimpse of life from a highway bend. Muldrow explains, “I am interested in this relationship of nostalgia and the relationship we have with the environment around us. The distancing of the way we view the landscape, from a car window, from development to development, our relationships are repetitions in travel and acquisitions”. The daughter of a military parent, Muldrow’s work captures her childhood longing for the security of a known and constant place to call home.

Michelle Muldrow received her B.F.A. from The University of Minnesota. Her work resides in a number of prestigious collections.

Los Angeles artist Glenn Ossiander will exhibit recent color-field paintings that employ a mastery of texture and light to create implied movement. Glenn’s work explores the dualities present on the surface: active versus still, organic versus mechanical, form versus space, impulse versus discipline. The impasto acrylic surfaces resemble celestial roadmaps to far off galaxies and elements in time. Ossiander explains ”Often the light in the city flattens color. Other times it can be vivid. Where I live, along the coast, the light is usually clear and clean and the colors of the ocean, sky, mountains and foliage are brilliant – it is a wonderful environment for a painter.”

Glenn Ossiander studied at Pennsylvania Academy Of Fine Arts and the Philadelphia College of Art. His works has garnered critical praise and hangs in public and private collections.

New York based painter Derek Buckner draws his inspiration from the beauty within the seemingly banal settings of suburban houses and intersecting highways. It is through the artist’s expressive, elemental brushwork that he depicts vital images of the contemporary American landscape and infuses his subjects with energy.

The paintings vibrant palette and intensity of light give Buckner’s subject matter a reverential weight. Buildings and garages appear not only as elements of the suburban environment but also as blocks of color and light. The artist states, “There is a natural abstraction that occurs in our immediate surroundings. In my work I hope to show the viewer the delicate balance between the real and the abstract and to expose not only the terrifying and heroic nature of our suburban sprawl, but also its often haunting and surprisingly quiet beauty."

Derek Buckner received his B.F.A. from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His work can be found in several public and corporate collections internationally.
