Laro Nicol's oldest son dies in motorcycle accident

llnicol@yahoo.com On Friday night, Laro James Nicol was killed while riding his motorcycle. Laro James Nicol is the old son of Laro Nicol, a long-time Phoenix-area activist, who is serving a 2-year prison term.
Laro Nicol's oldest son, Laro James Nicol was killed in a collision with a vehicle on Friday night. Laro Nicol is currently serving a 2-year prison sentence after being railroaded by the ATF.
Laro Nicol is attempting to negotiate with the Prison to allow him to be released to attend his son's funeral. It is not certain that he will be allowed out. It is likely that if he is let out, that he will need to pay for the police escort from the prison to the funeral.

Laro Nicol is a longtime and well-respected activist from the Phoenix metropolitan area who was active in Copwatch and other organizations. Through a coordinated effort between local law enforcement and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Laro was threatened with charges that might have put him in prison for 20 years. In the end, he was pressured into taking a 2-year plea agreement. He is currently residing in a federal correctional facility in Safford. His release is set for June 15.

Motorcyclist dies in crash
A motorcyclist died Friday when his bike collided
with a left-turning car in the middle of a Mesa
intersection, police said.
The 22-year-old motorcyclist from Mesa, whose name
was not released, was riding south on Mesa Drive about
8 p.m. when he rode through a yellow light at Southern
Avenue, Mesa police Sgt. Chuck Trapani said.
A Dodge Intrepid, which had been traveling north,
turned left on the yellow light to go west onto
Southern — without yielding to the motorcycle, Trapani
said.
The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, hit
the right-front corner of the car. He was pronounced
dead at the intersection by a Mesa fire crew.
The intersection was still closed late Friday and
no citations had been issued.
