SOS Cancels San Bernardino Rally

by Leslie Saturday, Dec. 03, 2005 at 11:56 PM

Save Our State has cancelled its long-scheduled San Bernardino rally, originally scheduled for tomorrow.

Citing conflicts with Minuteman candidate Jim Gilchrist's last-minute congressional push and possible rain, Save Our State has cancelled anti-day labor rally scheduled for San Bernardino tomorrow morning.

The event, planned for nearly a month, had invigorated opposition to SOS in the Inland Empire, while appearing to have little support from SOS members.

SOS's leader Joe Turner, however, has given no indication that his petition campaign for a "City of San Bernardino Illegal Immigration Relief Act Ordinance" has stalled, with the exception of the cancellation of signature-gathering originally scheduled for after the rally.

Save Our State has scheduled its next anti-day labor rally for next Saturday, December 10, 8:00-11:00, in Glendale at 5040 San Fernando Rd.

Can you cite a second source

by Should we trust SOS web site? Sunday, Dec. 04, 2005 at 12:46 AM

Can anyone confirm this? We have seen fake posts on their site in the past.

Can you cite a second independent source?

Some people should still check out SB on that day. Some SOSers may still show up.

Lake Forrest? Where?

by Border Raven Sunday, Dec. 04, 2005 at 2:25 AM

Where in Lake Forrest do you want to meet?

The more the merrier.

How about Carl's Jr on El Toro Rd @ Muirlands Blvd?

Do you mind if we at SOS/MM inform the contractors/employers, about the legal ramifications of hiring and transporting illegal aliens.

After all, I have heard so many times of how the MM should go after the employers of the illegals, so the illegals would not have that reason to draw them to the USA. So we want to shut off the tap. We will go after the employers, and give them information n the laws. We won't harrase the day laborers.

OK?

The time and date are always mismatched here at LA Indymedia, if that's what you're referring to. The time and date on your comment are off, too. What's up, BR--trying to cast doubt on your leader's own announcement? Joe was close to canceling this yesterday. And here I thought you just got done inviting us all down to Lake Forest.

And I didn't spell "canceled" with 2 L's--Joe Turner did. I just copied his webpage. Thought that much was obvious.

You have never once attempted a protest at any Gilchrist or immigration event in South Orange County, outside of Laguna Beach. You post them all, but no one shows up to protest. NO ONE.

I think it is the Corona Factor.

Get REAL

by Achcauhtli Sunday, Dec. 04, 2005 at 8:32 AM

There is NO WAY that a comment on a single website, hidden from view to 90% of Indymedia readers, is going to spark a demonstration overnight.

There is something called ORGANIZING.

It takes WORK.

Not what ifs.

SOS falls apart again, and you set us up to look half as stupid as them. Don't DO that.

Not on a whim. NOT when you haven't done the WORK to make something happen.

We've kicked SOS and Gilchrist butt three times in Orange County - 2 times in Laguna Beach and once in Garden Grove.

I helped organize the counter actions in Garden Grove and Baldwin Park 1 + 2.

When we organize we WIN. When we play, well....

We won't be playing in Glendale on Dec 10.

We'll see you there.

8AM. SHARP

As far as the Gilchrist thing goes?

DON'T GO.

Like I said, you will not come to South Orange County

by SouthOC Sunday, Dec. 04, 2005 at 1:48 PM

unless it is it Laguna Beach. Garbage Cove is NOT south county and even there you guys got run over and you were the ones arrested.

The Gilchrist office has been at the same very public location for months and there has never been ONE protest. How much time ya need to organize?

Not to mention dozens of other events.
